What is Special Religious Education (SRE)?
Special Religious Education (SRE) provides students in NSW public schools the opportunity to explore their faith during school hours. Often referred to as “Scripture,” these classes are taught by authorised representatives of approved religious groups to students who have opted in.
Australian Islamic Education Services (AIES) is an approved SRE provider. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality Islamic education that fosters a strong sense of identity and belonging for Muslim students in the NSW public school system.

What We Teach
Our program is grounded in the rich traditions of the Islamic faith. We guide students in understanding their core beliefs, empowering them to carry these values forward as compassionate, contributing members of the Australian community.
The Foundations of Our Curriculum
- The Five Pillars of Islam: The Shahada (Faith), Salat (Prayer), Zakat (Charity), Saum (Fasting) and Hajj (Pilgrimage).
- The Six Pillars of Iman: Belief in Allah, His Angels, His Revealed Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgement and Divine Decree (Qadar).
Curriculum Design
Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, age-appropriate and relevant to the needs of today’s youth. To maintain high standards, AIES reviews and updates our materials every three years in consultation with industry professionals and experienced SRE teachers.
